'With my voice, I'll give you the confines of my heart': Gord Downie on the power of singing

Gord Downie was the voice of Canada for decades, both literally and figuratively. And in 1999, he spoke to the CBC about learning to better use that voice.
"If you're singing well and you're really expressing your heart, you know, and letting your voice soar, that becomes a great feeling — a great drug. And then you can start doing anything," he explained.
On the relationship between his body and his voice, he continued: "I think my body is basically giving subtext. For anybody out here that is big on meaning, then they can look at my body. And with my voice, I'll give the confines of my heart — which is illegible. It's more of a feeling."
