Here's what we've been talking about this week.

Hi, art lovers!

Who are Canada's most innovative tattoo artists?

CBC Arts producer Lise Hosein has been thinking about that question for months. Starting this summer, Lise began scouting for our latest video series, Art Hurts, and we're excited to say that the show launched this past Thursday with a profile of Toronto-based artist Ilona Fiddy. (Watch it here.) Over the next few weeks, you'll meet folks including...

Marigold Santos

Any of those names look familiar? Maybe you've been on one of their waiting lists for the last eight months, or maybe you remember reading about a few of them on CBC Arts. (We've done stories featuring Tee! Nomi! Marigold!)

Each artist's work is beautiful and one of a kind. But what you may not realize just from looking at their designs is that they also tell very personal stories — an aspect that resonates with clients.

Expect to explore that emotional thread a little more as Art Hurts continues over the next few weeks. Find out more about the series here, and stay tuned for new episodes every week.

In the meantime, we're still producing new videos about tattoo art, and we'd love to hear from you. Do you know of a Canadian tattoo artist who's doing incredible work? We want to know about it. Email us whenever.

Beto Janz (@betojanz) - How is art like skateboarding? Here's Beto's take: "[With skateboarding], you are always trying to push yourself, facing your fears. So it's the same thing with art. Most of the time I don't know how this is going to turn out...but I have to try it."
