Because really, that's the correct position for viewing Nonotak's Versus. It's an original installation of sound and light, created especially for Montreal audiences.
Grab a cushion, lie down, get cozy. That's how things are done at Montreal's Satosphere. It's a first-of-its-kind venue, a Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) space dedicated to "artistic creation and visualization activities," one that provides a completely immersive experience. Eight video projectors beam footage on a domed screen, 13 metres high and 18 metres in diameter.
And until October 30, Nonotak's Versus takes over the dome, distorting the audience's perception of where the 360° screen ends and kaleidoscopic infinity begins. Nonotak, a.k.a. Paris-based illustrator Noemi Schipher and architect/musician Takami Nakamoto, created the show during an 8-day residency at SAT.
Until your smartphone goes VR, there's no way of fully duplicating the Versus experience. But if you follow Nonotak on Instagram, you can still get a 2-D preview of their animations of lines and light.

The duo's art is all about feeding the senses with sound and light. "Everything we do is about immersion," Takami told The Quietus earlier this year, while the duo were residents at Montreal's Mutek festival.
