Noah Reid stole our hearts with his Schitt's Creek serenade. Here are his favourite love songs
Just in time for Valentine's Day, the actor — who plays Patrick to Dan Levy's David — shares his top 3 picks
When Patrick serenaded David on Schitt's Creek's open mic night in season 4, audiences around the world swooned. TV Guide called it the most romantic scene on TV and Noah Reid's acoustic cover of Bonnie Tyler's "(Simply) the Best" (which the actor-musician arranged himself) shot to #1 on iTunes Canada's charts.
Just in time for Valentine's Day — and the release of the first single from his new album Gemini — Reid shared his favourite love songs with us.
Noah Reid's top 3 love songs:
1. "A Case of You" by Joni Mitchell
"The first one that pops to mind to me when I'm talking about top love songs...and it's been endlessly covered and nobody has gotten it the way that she did. 'I could drink a case of you and still be on my feet'... I just think it is such a great lyrical turn and the music is so beautiful. Her voice is incredible."
2. "Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye" by Leonard Cohen
"A little bit more of a melancholy take, to my taste. It's a goodbye song but it feels like there's a lot of love in it still. 'Your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm' — like, I don't know where Leonard was getting this stuff."
3. "You're Still the One" by Shania Twain
"I would be in trouble with my partner Clare if I did not bring this one up. That feeling of like — against the odds, two people finding each other. All the other stuff in life, all the people talking about you or whatever their opinions might be — it doesn't matter when you're within that relationship. We're here and that's all we need."
Schitt's Creek airs on CBC TV Tuesdays at 9 p.m. (9:30 p.m. NT) and streams on CBC Gem.
