Meet Ethan Burden, the prince of popping who's taking dance to new levels
Watch as he contorts his body to teach us how to do The Wave
At only 15 years old, he's part of the new school of poppers, but Ethan Burden will amaze you with the maturity of his body control. Stuttering, hitting, and cutting to the beat, he loses himself to the will of the music and then quickly switches pace and directions into something smooth and silky.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Ethan's dance style is a mixture of learned moves from his favourite stars, like personal hero and male winner of So You Think You Can Dance Season 10 Fik-shun, plus dance classes and intensives. He also competes in dance battles, where he typically finds that he is one of the youngest in the room.
In this episode of The Move 3: Kids, watch as Ethan contorts his body to show us The Wave.
For him, finding inspiration in other dancers on social media has opened up his own creativity, driving him to push his body and his dance to its fullest potential. "It's brought a new work ethic because I always want to improve and I always want to be better than I was yesterday."
The Move 3: Kids features performances from nine of the most incredible young dancers in Canada. Find out more and stream the full series now on CBC Gem.
