When world-renowned author Salman Rushdie came to our studios to talk about his new book, Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights, we wanted to offer him a sample of Canada's greatest literary offerings in return. No, not Kim Thúy or Margaret Atwood, but October's (and Canada's) very own rapper-in-residence, Drake.
We asked Salman Rushdie to read five famous Drake lines and share his take on the rapper's prose. In this video, Rushdie channels his inner Drizzy, empathizes with Drake's hate for haters, and uncovers a subtle Marilyn Monroe reference.
Watch the premiere of Exhibitionists Sun, Oct. 4 at 4:30 p.m./5 p.m. NT on CBC-TV.
