Meet the band from Japan trying to make it big on Toronto's streets
The band came to Canada with little more than their instruments in hopes of following their dreams
MunizO is made up of Taro, Jiro and Yuta — three guys who came to Toronto from Japan hoping to catch a break in the music scene. Despite a ton of drive and a lot of talent, it hasn't been an easy ride. They are always running on little money, lugging their equipment around and accidentally making roommates with cockroaches.
Busking at Yonge and Dundas Square has given them a sense of belonging when everything else feels a bit unfamiliar, and that's where filmmaker Qais Pasha noticed their super high-energy sound and impenetrable enthusiasm. In this video, he sits down with MunizO to find out about their dreams.

Qais Pasha is a Pakistani-Canadian filmmaker. He grew up in Pakistan and immigrated to Ontario as a teenager. He has directed two documentaries, Abu + Ami and Pardah. He is currently a fourth-year film student in Ryerson University's film BFA program. You can see his other work for CBC Arts here.
