Let powerhouse art duo Emily Vey Duke and Cooper Battersby take you through their work
Images Festival is offering a cinematic retrospective on the pair this weekend
Images Festival brings more than 80 of the world's most innovative artists together in Toronto from April 14-23 for North America's biggest celebration of experimental video, film and installation, but only two of them are getting the distinction of the festival's Canadian Artist Spotlight: Emily Vey Duke and Cooper Battersby.
Since their first public screening at Images back in 2000, Vey Duke (of Halifax) and Battersby (of Penticton, B.C.) have been a major force in the art world, with their videos screening around the world and gaining them considerable notoriety. This year, Images will look back at the highlights and aesthetic shifts of those years of work through a cinematic retrospective. But CBC Arts asked the pair to give us a little preview, and the above video — produced by Lise Hosein — is what they sent in return.
