Feeling vulnerable? For this musician and dancer, that emotion is her secret power

KALLITECHNIS doesn't put all of her faith in words. In fact, she feels that they often fall a bit short. So in her art practice, singing, dancing, creating art and designing fashion are essential to using her voice. Even her name speaks to her interest in becoming proficient in a variety of arts — she calls herself KALLITECHNIS after a Greek term for "master of craft".

Her new EP is called Wet Paint and it's a self-portrait in music that speaks to her philosophy of using vulnerability not as a weakness but as an opportunity for growth. She had an early demonstration of its power when she had her first solo dance performance and was overcome by stage fright. She froze onstage — but that experience made her realize her responsibility and connection to the audience could be liberating. Now, those moments are when she feels the most artistically and spiritually free.

In this video, we spend some time with KALLITECHNIS to see how she's using her new EP to share her own stories and empower others who might still be overcome by their own vulnerabilities.
