Cree elders bless Canada Reads defender Bruce Poon Tip
The G Adventures founder visits the ancestral home that inspired Birdie
He may be the founder of one of the largest adventure travel companies in the world, but G Adventures' Bruce Poon Tip admitted he hasn't really explored his own backyard. Until now.
Tasked with defending the Canada Reads 2016 book Birdie, Poon Tip decided to truly understand author Tracey Lindberg's roots and the inspiration for the book by visiting a relatively remote part of Canada.
In this short documentary for Exhibitionists, the first-time novelist takes Poon Tip to her ancestral homeland at Kelly Lake. There, the Cree elders welcomed the international entrepreneur, who's known for his social conscience as much as his business savvy.
Along with filmmaker Jeremy Ratzlaff, lawyer-turned-novelist Lindberg and her defender take in a bird's eye view of her ancestral lands, flying over a stunning part of the nation with members of her Cree community.
Watch Exhibitionists Sundays at 4:30pm (5 NT) on CBC.
