#FinishMyKidsArt: Here's what happens when talented kids and artists collaborate online

Taking inspiration from Crash Gallery — which launches tonight — we put your kids' artwork into the hands of talented artists from the show, who put their unique spin on the images.

What happens when professional artists put their touches on kids' artwork? Why, the delightful gallery above, of course.

A week ago, we asked you to submit your children's art for a bit of creative collaboration with the artists from Crash Gallery, which premieres tonight on CBC. We had a fantastic time learning about the young artists behind the illustrations, and were surprised each time by the creative spin our artists placed on them.

Take for example Leo's drawing, submitted by his mom Kate Swoger, of green creatures with the words "Once upon a time," written across the top of the page:

We entrusted this piece to Candice Roach, an artist and cake decorator in Vancouver, who astounded us by decorating a cake with Leo's image and adding a short story to bring it all together: "Once upon a time an alien crab family lowered a ladder and saved the lizard king and queen from the humans."

In Crash Gallery, artists compete for bragging rights in unconventional challenges — all while under the pressure of a timer and a live audience, which votes for its favourite. To learn more about the show, check out the trailerCrash Gallery premieres on Friday, October 2 at 8:30 p.m.
