CBC Arts Quotes of the Week: What will Jacob Tremblay always remember about the SAG Awards?

This year's awards season has gone into cute overload, thanks to nine-year-old Vancouver actor Jacob Tremblay. But before we get to his comments, and a few more notable ones from the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards, check out some of the biggest entertainment quotes of the week — including the tweets that generated a very Canadian conversation about inclusion at awards shows, #JunosSoMale.

Musician Amy Millan of Stars tweeted her reaction to this week's Juno Awards nominations, and launched a trending topic at the same time. Several top categories — including album and artist of the year — are dominated by male acts.

"I don't expect recognition, but I believe there were qualified women besides myself for many categories. I can't help but feel that if women were equally rewarded for technical work they would feel inclined to participate more. […] Examples of sick female Canadian producers off the top of my head: Wondagurl, Allie X, Mozart's Sister… I know there's more but I'm sleepy."

Her 2015 album Art Angels was a critical smash, and many fans of Grimes considered her absence from the top Juno categories a major snub. The Montreal musician herself responded to the #JunosSoMale controversy in tweets which she later deleted.

"He protected me from Day 1 to for the rest of my life, I am pretty sure of that."

At a Las Vegas memorial concert, Celine Dion paid tribute to Rene Angelil, her late husband and long-time manager. He "discovered" the Canadian superstar when she was 12.

"When I said, 'The door tonight has been opened,' I believed that with every bone in my body that this was going to incite change because this door, this barrier, had been broken. And to sit here almost 15 years later, and knowing that another woman of colour has not walked through that door, is heartbreaking."

Adding to the continuing conversation about #OscarsSoWhite, Halle Berry recalled the words of her Academy Award acceptance speech while speaking at the 2016 Makers Conference.

"We've become a society of trending topics. And diversity is not a trending topic. It's just not."

After winning a SAG Award for her performance in How to Get Away With Murder, Viola Davis commented on #OscarsSoWhite.

"As I hear people talk, at the law school or on the news, I keep thinking: Whose voices aren't we hearing? Who haven't we listened to? And then sometimes when a person's voice comes through that's powerful and resonates and you don't expect it, I think: Now that's a story."

Canada Reads author Tracey Lindberg talked to CBC Radio's The Next Chapter about how she finds new stories to tell.

"The genius is not a know-it-all, they are a see-it-all."

Author Eric Weiner spoke with CBC Radio's The Current about his book, The Geography of Genius, and how creative brilliance has less to do with genes than where we live.

"As far as legacy goes, I'd just like to be remembered as someone who made someone laugh while they were hurting."

Carol Burnett, who was honoured at the SAG Awards with a lifetime achievement award. 

"I have often been told I'm not thin enough, I'm not white enough, I'm not short enough, not man enough. Dammit, I am enough."
