St-Pierre-Miquelon: A piece of France in the Atlantic
Paul Soles of CBC-TV's Take 30 visits the French island of St. Pierre near Newfoundland in 1975.
French possession a tourist destination for Canadians
Some call it a showroom for France in North America.
As the last piece of the colony of New France, the islands of St-Pierre-Miquelon have changed hands several times since a Portuguese explorer first landed in 1520.
In this 1975 video, Take 30 host Paul Soles visits the islands and watches as tourists from a Russian passenger liner get to shore via local fishing boats and the ship's cutter.
